J. Knipper and Company Launches Sample360 as Innovative Suite of Marketing Services

LAKEWOOD, NJ – November 21, 2005

James J. Knipper, President/CEO, J. Knipper and Company, announced the launch of Sample360º, integrating Knipper’s wide range of marketing services designed to facilitate sampling programs and sample compliance policies and procedures for pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

“We introduced the Sample360º fully integrated concept at the PDMA Sharing Conference which was held in Orlando, Florida, in September. Attendees representing the pharmaceutical industry were shown how our Sample360º’s combination of innovative and traditional solutions for the dynamic gamut of drug sampling practices and processes can elevate their significant investment in sampling to new heights of performance”¸ said Mr. Knipper. He added their receptivity in the concept scored high at the show and awareness of Sample360º is growing.

Sample360º features comprehensive, cost-efficient solutions for pharmaceutical companies that enable them to stay in compliance with the Prescription Drug Marketing Act (PDMA) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations.

Sample 360º provides solutions to issues such as Sample Distribution support, Sample Agent personnel, and Direct-to-Practitioner distribution of samples. Additionally, the suite of services includes Alternative Sampling options and Sample Accountability Systems. Sample360 is engineered to be flexible with customized services to complement the client’s individual culture and policies and procedures that are already in place.

Sample Distribution of prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and controlled substances

Understanding that the primary function of sales representatives is to call on their targeted practitioners, Sample360º features extensive Sample Distribution platforms to support sales efficiency. Through an easy-to-use web-based ordering system, Knipper can warehouse and ship products directly to sales reps in bulk quantities, based on cyclical schedules or orders placed in the system.

Knipper’s ability to store pharmaceutical products has been augmented by the company’s recently constructed 180,000 square foot facility, located at One Healthcare Way in Lakewood, New Jersey. The temperature controlled facility features three FDA-approved narcotic storage areas as well as refrigerated and freezer storage.

Sample Agents for cost efficient in-person sampling

For customers who require cost effective assistance in reaching their targeted practitioners directly, Knipper’s Sample360 suite offers Sampling Agents. These well-trained individuals are focused exclusively on providing samples only to physicians at lower cost than traditional sales representatives who both detail and sample practitioners. Knipper Sample Agents are supported by Knipper’s Sample Distribution services described above.

Direct-to-Practitioner options

This component of Sample360º is focused on providing optional methods of response to sample requests made by physicians. Knipper ships samples directly to licensed prescribers, a service ideal for vacant territories and for reaching physicians who are in a non-called on category. A host of sample request options include direct mail and a novel web-based solution. The direct mail option features Business Reply Cards (BRCs) that Knipper can design, print, and personalize in-house.

Paperless Web-based Sampling, a key component of Sample360º

Knipper’s web-based sampling method is designed to serve the growing number of physicians and pharmaceutical companies increasingly communicating and/or eDetailing online. Mr. Knipper states, “Web-based sampling allows physicians to go online, be authenticated in compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 regulations and then be validated for sample ordering using the web. The cost advantage is significant since there is no reacquisition cost for subsequent sample requests; the physician can order samples as needed”.

Alternative Sampling opportunities

Mr. Knipper emphasized the company identifies innovative alternative sampling concepts beyond the traditional options of vouchers and rebates.

“The newest example of this is our Knipper Healthcare Card concept. Pharmaceutical and biotech companies can provide Healthcare value cards to physicians in pre-designated sums which they can, in turn, provide to their patients to serve as credits toward co-pays for specifically prescribed drugs”, said Mr. Knipper. “We’re very optimistic about this innovative product because it benefits everyone: the pharmaceutical company, the physician, and the patient.”

Addressing the complexities of Sample Accountability Issues

Ihab Ghaly, VP of Knipper’s Regulatory Group, adds “Sample360º can support our clients with comprehensive, fully systemized services related to complying with PDMA Sample Accountability requirements. This platform includes robust Practitioner Validation processes, including a dynamic database to manage collaborative agreements while offering real-time online reporting systems for all of our Sample360 services.”

Mr. Ghaly continued, “The collective powerful elements of Sample360º not only facilitate and streamline companies’ policies and procedures for staying in compliance but also minimize the costs associated with enabling sales representatives to make more effective use of their time, and get better results from their selling efforts. Our aim is to optimize the options for companies so that they can gain additional profitability.”
